The original Teen Titans were created by Bob Haney and Bruno Premiani 15 years earlier in The Brave and the Bold #60. You might think that because of the name “New” Teen Titans that there was a Teen Titans that came before. ![]() This book led to Wolfman and Pérez handling of Crisis on Infinite Earths the 50th anniversary megacrossover that reset continuity in the DC Universe. It was one of two giants of the day, the other being Chris Claremont’s Uncanny X-Men over at Marvel. Featuring a mix of both old and new character, the book, written by Marv Wolfman and drawn my George Pérez, was critically acclaimed and set the bar for other books coming after. The Boss decides to advertise for a fourth employee to help with an expected increase in workload, but the only person who applies for the job is the man from the overpass, the titular Bartleby. The Boss's office is in a building on top of a large hill, completely inaccessible by foot, and he employs three people: Ernest, an overweight and neurotic klutz Rocky, who looks and acts like a stereotypical mobster and Vivian, his verbose, flirtatious, and bluntly honest receptionist. While on his way to work one day, the film's narrator, the unnamed manager of a public records office (hereafter referred to as the Boss), sees a forlorn-looking man standing on an overpass. The technological, geological and social impacts of the various stages of this project are given equal attention with a fine balance between the personal experience of the main character and the large-scale reactions of the masses. ![]() With the threat of the sun’s demise, humanity embarks on an ambitious project to take Earth out of solar orbit and head for a new home. In all three versions, this is a story of epic scale and gigantic engineering projects immediately reminiscent of Cixin Liu’s second and third ‘Three-Body’ books. ![]() I read the original prose story in the collection of the same name and I’ve also seen the film, which was visually impressive and great fun. As part of the new series of graphic novels adaptations of Cixin Liu’s work, one of his best-known short stories, ‘The Wandering Earth’, has been adapted by Christophe Bec into a fabulous and sumptuous looking work. ![]() |
